Q: What’s a Vault?
A: The Vault is the strongest and safest comic book mailer available. If you’re shipping comics or trade paperbacks, this is the mailer you’ve been waiting for. It’s easy to fold, easy to load, and tough as nails.
Q: What are the Vault’s dimensions?
A: 7 ¾” x 11” x 1/12”
Q: How many comics can I put in a Vault?
A: 15 standard comics with backing boards. You may get more or less in the well depending on the size of the books.
Q: I send my comics in a bubble mailer – isn’t that enough?
A: NO. Bubbles don’t keep the package from bending, and any bend will damage the comic inside. In order to protect a comic, you must send it in a box.
Q: What about rigid or padded mailers packed with cardboard?
A: No, no, no. Packing it with cardboard might help a little, but your typical mail carrier rips phone books in half for fun.
That cardboard (and the comic inside) is getting folded in half and shoved into the mailbox. I know. It’s happened to me. Many, many times.
Q: I write “Do Not Bend” on all my packages – that’s safe, right?
A: No way. Imagine you’re a package carrier. You have 3 trillion parcels to deliver in the next 15 minutes. Are you stopping to read and comply with written directions? Forget about it.
But it’s deeper than that. Your package gets tossed into a bucket and trucked with hundreds of other heavy packages constantly slamming it. And packages can’t read. I can’t stress this enough – in order to protect a comic book or tpb, you must send it in a box.
Q: You’re being hard on package carriers, aren’t you?
A: Not at all. Mail/package carriers aren’t the problem. They have a tough job and they nearly always do it well.
The best mail carrier in the world can’t protect a comic in a bubble mailer. The rigors of standard shipping will crush it any way if it isn’t shipped in a box.
Q: Then what is the problem?
A: Growing pains. Before online auctions/stores, nobody had much reason to mail comic books. Now there are thousands of inexperienced shippers doing untold damage without even realizing it.
That’s my crusade – to save comic books from the people who love them through education and really great mailer.. Lesson # 1: comics need to be shipped in a box. (and may I recommend the Vault?)
Q: But boxes are more expensive than bubble/padded mailers, aren’t they?
A: The Vault mailer costs about the same or less. You can perfectly protect your shipped comics for less money than you’re spending on bubbles that don’t work. So why continue killing comics?
Q: What makes The Vault so great?
A: It’s indestructible. It’s designed to fit comics. It’s easy to use and fold, and the safest way to ship comics on planet earth.
Q: Aren’t you exagerrating the damage a comic suffers in the mail?
A: Comic books shipped without boxes are dead meat. It’s really that simple.
Q: Why not ship comics in a different box?
A: Because a Vault is tougher (200 # test and crush-proof), and designed for comics. The less room comics have to move, the safer they are.
The Vault is easier to use and safer than most boxes because it’s fitted for the books. Don’t be fooled by flimsy imitations or “crush proof” adjustable mailers that have folding perforations where the Vault is fortified!
