Vault Comic Mailers is really just my mission to save comic books. If you didn’t know that comics were in deadly peril, I’m glad you’re reading this.
Here’s the truth – comic books are being destroyed by the thousands every day, and they really need your help. Let me explain.
The internet has simultaneously been the best friend and worst enemy of the comic book collector. The good news is that you have more options than ever before. Back in the day, you had one local comic shop to browse through. If you were lucky.
Now any collector with a computer has access to millions of comics, any time of day, any day of the year. It’s easier to find what you need and usually cheaper, too.
But the internet boom came with a price. In the past, getting your comics home meant putting them in a bag for a ten minute trip in the car.
Now every book sold online goes through the mail or some other package carrier. I’m here to tell you – the mail is not a safe place for a comic book!
So while you might have a better shot at getting your favorite comic book from an online auction or retailer, your chances of getting that book in good shape is nearly zero.
Why?
For reasons I’ll never understand, it’s become an industry standard to send comic books in bubble or padded mailers. And these mailers are killing comics by the thousands.
If you take nothing else from this story, please remember this: the only safe way to ship comic books or TPBs is in a box. It’s not just the best way. It’s the only way.
Back to the story. Like many of you, I wasn’t just buying comics on the web, I was also selling them. And one fateful day, I was struck by a realization that changed my thinking forever.
I opened up yet another bubble mailer to find yet another damaged comic book, and instantly felt sick. How could they do this to me!
But then I realized that the people who were buying books from me were feeling the exact same disappointment and anger that I felt then – because I was sending my comics in bubble mailers as well.
I vowed to myself that I would never, ever, ever send a comic unprotected again. What were we thinking, sending these treasures in flimsy flexible mailers! The madness had to stop.
But a funny thing happened when I searched for proper boxes to ship my comics in – I discovered there weren’t any. The mailers were always the wrong size, a pain to pack and deal with, and often not tough enough.
So after beating my head against the wall for far too long trying to send comics in bad mailers, I decided the only way to solve the problem was to create a great mailer myself.
And that’s how The Vault was born.
After a few prototypes, we feel that we have designed the best comic book mailer on planet earth. It’s tough as nails, easy to fold, easy to load, and built specifically for comics.
Combine all that with the fact that The Vault is equal to or less expensive than bubble mailers, and the choice is simple. Send it in a Vault, and help save the world one book at a time!
Cheers!
